The first match of EUL was quite the spectacle to watch
TT9 fans have probably seen better days after watching their side absolutely romped on the first European League playday, as Heroic game in strong with a confident 7-0 sweep over the team.
The teams went to Bank for the matchup, and as casters noted, there was no real way to predict the outcome of the game, with both squads running new players. For example, Jordan “Kayak” Morley, known by many as Pengu’s replacement on G2, making his debut with Heroic, and Juhani “Kantoraketti” Toivonen coming in as a last minute buy for TT9 alongside Luke “Kendrew” Kendrew. Therefore, one could only speculate as to the outcome of this matchup. Possibly unexpected, however, was the thrashing that Heroic delivered.
TT9 needs more time to find their footing
Heading into round number one (without sound on stream due to technical issues), Heroic executed a top-floor take with almost no resistance – a blunder for TT9 with this being a crucial element to hold for a Stock/Paper bombsite. Jume shut down Kanto’s Oryx as he rotated up from open area to pressure the top floor corridor, while Blaz cleared Noa from the basement. One by one the TT9 players fell, and overall it was a clinical execution from Heroic.
This set the pace for much of the rest of the map, with TT9 struggling to find their footing, with no player holding a positive K/D at the end of the game. Heroic players Blaz and Jume had outstanding performances, going 10-3 and 10-4 respectively, with all except Skiddy holding over an 86% KOST. Meanwhile, the top performer on TT9 was Kendrew with a 5-7, with Kanto and Prano contributing just two kills each to the team.
Clearly then, TT9 needs more time to find their footing – after all, this roster was just three days old, and fans will be hoping they make a swift recovery to have a chance to qualify for the Copenhagen Major in May. Heroic, on the other hand, can rest easy after their confident win.
